When to book your senior photoshoot! (+ tips for early planning!)
If you’re a junior in high school, it probably feels waaay too early to be thinking about senior pictures, right? It’s actually not that far off AT ALL! Most seniors have their shoots the summer or fall after their junior year. Uh hello there’s only 4 months of consistent sun in Oregon and you’ve got to jump on these dates!! That’s not the only benefit to booking your photos early…
⭐️ IT GIVES YOU TIME TO RESEARCH⭐️
Start looking around at what other seniors have been doing! It can give you inspiration for what to stay away from if you don’t vibe with what’s out there. What photographers did they use? What outfits were they wearing? This will help you find out what you DO and DON’T want for your shoot! 👏🏻
⭐️ SNAG A DATE WITH YOUR DREAM PHOTOGRAPHER ⭐️
The most important part of your senior photo experience - the photographer! Photographers open their calendars early in the year so it’s important to snag your spot ASAP! If you wait too long, you may not get the photographer or the shoot you want and that is not a vibe. I like to plan my seniors’ shoots at least two-months in advance so they have plenty of time to collect their outfits and prepare.
⭐️ MAKE A DETAILED PINTEREST BOARD ⭐️
Now it’s time to put all of your shoot ideas into one place! This will help you and your photog understand your vision more - yay! Pull any photos from insta, your photog’s website, and Pinterest that have inspiring elements you’d like to work into your shoot. My seniors get a full in-studio Planning Session so I can walk them through the process and make sure nothing is missed!
